چکیده

Formation of modulated phase patterns can be modelized by a modi…ed Cahn-Hilliard equation which includes a non local term preventing the formation of macroscopic domains. Using stationnary solutions of the original Cahn-Hilliard equation as analytical ansatzs, we compute the thermodynamically stable period of a 1D modulated phase pattern. We …nd that the period scales like the power -1/3 of the strength of the long range interaction Pacs numbers : 47.54.+r, 05.45.Yv, 64.75.-g, 81.30.-t Electronic address: [email protected]

1D Cahn-Hilliard equation: Ostwald Ripening and Modulated Phase Systems

Using an approximate analytical solution of the Cahn-Hilliard equation describing the coalescence during a first order phase transition, we compute the characteristic time for one step of period doubling in Langer's self similar scenario for Ostwald ripening. As an application, we compute the thermodynamically stable period of a 1D modulated phase pattern.

The existence of global attractor for a Cahn-Hilliard/Allen-Cahn‎ ‎equation

In this paper, we consider a Cahn-Hillard/Allen-Cahn equation. By using the semigroup and the classical existence theorem of global attractors, we give the existence of the global attractor in H^k(0

Cahn-hilliard Equations and Phase Transition Dynamics for Binary Systems

The process of phase separation of binary systems is described by the Cahn-Hilliard equation. The main objective of this article is to give a classification on the dynamic phase transitions for binary systems using either the classical Cahn-Hilliard equation or the Cahn-Hilliard equation coupled with entropy, leading to some interesting physical predictions. The analysis is based on dynamic tra...

Coarsening kinetics from a variable-mobility Cahn-Hilliard equation: application of a semi-implicit Fourier spectral method.

An efficient semi-implicit Fourier spectral method is implemented to solve the Cahn-Hilliard equation with a variable mobility. The method is orders of magnitude more efficient than the conventional forward Euler finite-difference method, thus allowing us to simulate large systems for longer times. We studied the coarsening kinetics of interconnected two-phase mixtures using a Cahn-Hilliard equ...

The viscous Cahn - Hilliard equation . Part I : computations

The viscous Cahn-Hilliard equation arises as a singular limit of the phase-field model of phase transitions. It contains both the Cahn-Hilliard and Allen-Cahn equations as particular limits. The equation is in gradient form and possesses a compact global atUactor 4 comprising heteroclinic orbits between equilibria. Two classes of wmputati0n.m described,. First heteroclinic o&its on the global a...
